Barriers and facilitators to the use of Patient Reported Outcome Measures by Australian osteopaths

Abstract:

Background Patient Reported Outcome Measures (PROMs) are increasingly being used to quantify and inform valued-based healthcare both globally and in Australia. However, use of these measures in specific allied health professions, notably osteopathy, is lacking. Objectives The current study aimed to determine potential barriers and facilitators to the use of PROMs in a cohort of Australian osteopaths. Methods Clinically active Australian osteopaths were recruited for the study. Information on potential barriers and facilitators was collected using focus groups (3 groups, n=12) and one-on-one interviews (n=8). Data was examined using thematic analysis which was completed using NVivo 14 for Microsoft Windows. Results 20 Australian osteopaths participated in the study. They identified various factors that may impact or support the routine use of PROMs in osteopathic practice. Themes included environmental, organisational, and individual (clinician and patient) barriers. Time, administration burden, and clinician knowledge were identified as common barriers impeding PROM use, whereas facilitators included improved access to profession-relevant PROMs, access to training and information, and policy-based use. Conclusion PROMs provide an opportunity for osteopaths to embrace standardised routine measurement that has the potential to support clinical decision-making, empower patients, and help build the professional standard of osteopathic care in Australia. Identifying factors that may hinder or improve routine PROM adoption by osteopaths remains paramount, as this information may later be used to develop effective implementation strategies to improve the use of standardised outcome measures in practice.

(translated by Ostlib): Hintergrund Patient Reported Outcome Measures (PROMs) werden weltweit und auch in Australien zunehmend zur Quantifizierung und Information über wertorientierte Gesundheitsversorgung eingesetzt. Allerdings mangelt es an der Anwendung dieser Messgrößen in bestimmten verwandten Gesundheitsberufen, insbesondere in der Osteopathie. Ziele Die vorliegende Studie hatte zum Ziel, potenzielle Hindernisse und Förderfaktoren für die Anwendung von PROMs in einer Kohorte australischer Osteopathen zu ermitteln. Methoden Für die Studie wurden klinisch tätige australische Osteopathen rekrutiert. Informationen zu potenziellen Hindernissen und Förderfaktoren wurden mithilfe von Fokusgruppen (3 Gruppen, n = 12) und Einzelinterviews (n = 8) erhoben. Die Daten wurden mittels thematischer Analyse untersucht, die mit NVivo 14 für Microsoft Windows durchgeführt wurde. Ergebnisse 20 australische Osteopathen nahmen an der Studie teil. Sie identifizierten verschiedene Faktoren, die die routinemäßige Verwendung von PROMs in der osteopathischen Praxis beeinflussen oder unterstützen können. Zu den Themen gehörten umweltbezogene, organisatorische und individuelle (Kliniker und Patienten) Hindernisse. Zeit, Verwaltungsaufwand und Kenntnisse der Kliniker wurden als häufige Hindernisse für die Verwendung von PROMs identifiziert, während zu den fördernden Faktoren ein verbesserter Zugang zu berufsrelevanten PROMs, der Zugang zu Schulungen und Informationen sowie die politikbasierte Verwendung gehörten. Fazit PROMs bieten Osteopathen die Möglichkeit, standardisierte Routinemessungen einzuführen, die das Potenzial haben, die klinische Entscheidungsfindung zu unterstützen, Patienten zu stärken und zum Aufbau eines professionellen Standards für die osteopathische Versorgung in Australien beizutragen. Die Identifizierung von Faktoren, die die routinemäßige Einführung von PROMs durch Osteopathen behindern oder verbessern können, bleibt von größter Bedeutung, da diese Informationen später zur Entwicklung wirksamer Umsetzungsstrategien genutzt werden können, um den Einsatz standardisierter Ergebnismaße in der Praxis zu verbessern.

Help

The data base will be at your disposal in the English language. Translations into German and sometimes also into Spanish are available for supplementary information. The search routine is exclusively in English, even if the studies searched for were written in another language. The database contains scientific studies as well as non-scientific articles. Editorials that refer solely to the content of the journal as well as book reviews and event information are not included in the database, nor are articles from trivial journals and blogs.
The database has 3 access routes for search.

Search

In the simple search, the search area can be selected in the first field (e.g. author, keyword, abstract). Entering a word under “search term” searches for it in the selected field. When entering search terms, upper- and lower-case letters is not considered.
The search with a search term is carried out in right truncation, i.e. results are also searched for which contain the search term only as word stem. Thus, a search with the term “osteopath” also shows results with the words “osteopaths” and “osteopathic”. If only the word “osteopath” is to be searched for, a space must be placed after the word.
Several search terms can be entered in one line with spaces but without separators. The link is automatically made with “and” and only studies containing these search terms in the order entered are displayed as results. Example: For the term “low back pain”, the 3 words from the database are linked to a term and only those studies are displayed that contain the selected field “low back pain”. Studies with “back pain” or only “pain” would not be displayed. If the words “low back pain” are to be used both as a coherent search term and as 3 individual terms that can occur together but in different places, the search must be extended by two lines using the plus sign at the end of the line (with the Boolean operator “and”). If the results are to contain either “low” or “back” or “pain”, the search lines are to be linked with the Boolean operator “or”.

Advanced search

The advanced search is structured like the simple search, but has a number of effective filters that enable a very differentiated search for various options. In the normal state, all filters are switched off and thus show the maximum possible number of results. If the first row, a distinction can be made between searches for published and unpublished articles. The respective percentage shows how high the share of the respective area is in the database. By default, both areas are switched on. Furthermore, the search can be limited to studies (only studies) or to those articles that are available free of charge on the internet (free full text). The percentage indicated shows the proportion of freely accessible articles in the database. The term List of keywords a little further to the right contains a list of the search terms currently available in the Keywords section. Keywords written in bold usually have a higher significance and lead to more results. When entering the search term in the “search term” field, a list opens below the field containing those terms whose letters have been entered so far. Thus, when entering the letters l, o and w, all keywords containing these letters are displayed. When you click on a keyword, it is automatically transferred to the search field.
Quick search: quick search is the only filter in the database that displays all results in the displayed area without the need for a specific search term. If, for example, the category Covid-19 is selected under Quick search and then the search is confirmed with Return or the search key, all entries of this category are displayed. Quick search allows a quick and uncomplicated search within a rubric, but the combination with further filters and further search terms is not possible.
Search meta topic: the meta topic filter allows pre-sorting according to specific body systems and fields of work. For example, with the setting “Paediatric” and the search term “pain”, only those results are displayed that refer to pain in children’s diseases. The meta topic filter can be combined very well with other filters.
Search section: the section filter also limits the available contributions to the selected area. The section filters are general. For example, the filter “therapy” and the search term “pain” show all studies and articles that deal with pain from a therapeutic perspective.
Filter study type: this filter allows differentiation according to the most important study types. In the normal state, all studies and articles are displayed.
Filter type of work: this filter allows differentiation with regard to D.O. Academy of Osteopathy papers as well as MSc and PhD papers. Furthermore, it is possible to select conference abstracts, poster presentations and studies that have developed abstracts for study projects. In the normal state, no filter is set.
Filter type of language: this filter allows selection according to the most important languages. In the normal state, no filter is set.
Filter country: this filter can be used to select the country from which the searched article should come. The country of origin of the first author serves as the basis. In the normal state, no filter is set.
Filter publication date: this filter allows you to conveniently limit the publication date, either to the month or the last 3, 6 or 12 months or to a self-selected period. In the normal state, no filter is set.
The arrangement of the search with regard to the category (e.g. abstract, keywords) as well as the entry of the search term and the extension of the search field is the same as in the simple search.

Search single citation

This search option is particularly suitable for a quick search for a specific author or study. When entering the author’s name, all studies assigned to this name are displayed. The filter journal displays a list of journals in which osteopathic articles have been published. The fields title words and publication date allow further differentiation. It is also possible to search for a study without the author’s name, e.g. by entering the journal and the publication date or a time window. The article searched for can then be selected from the results displayed.

In the search history, the current search queries are saved for a certain time - for 2 hours if you are not logged in and 12 hours if you are logged in. As a logged-in user, you have the option of printing out your search strategies or saving them permanently with details of the search results and the date. To do this, click on the right-hand icons at the end of the line.

Saved searches

If you save your search in the search history, it will be displayed in the saved searches section from now on. You can rename, delete, or print the search from there at any time.

Sign in

If you register for free with OSTLIB and log in before working with the database, you have several advantages. You can save your search strategies permanently in this way, but you can also store particularly important studies in the clipboard and thus build up a collection of individual studies. In addition, the export function is activated in this way, with which you can read out your results (see Display search results).

Display search results

After setting the filters, entering the ‘search term’ and pressing ‘Search’, the results are displayed in list form. The list can be stored by author name, title, and date in descending or ascending order. On the left, you can select individual results and export them via the export field. There are 5 different output formats available. The first serves as a PDF for a comfortable overview of the search results, the txt. files serve as the second and third option for a simple overview, whereby you can choose between a printout with or without an abstract. The last two options are RIS and Bibtex files for importing the search results into a literature management programme.
Clicking on a search result in the list form opens the individual display. Here you will find a clear overview of all the data stored for an article or study. The brackets at the beginning and end of a title indicate that the article was not written in English and that the title has been translated. Below the translation is the title in the original language. After the names, numbers indicate how many contributions by the author are recorded in the database. A list of the contributions is displayed when the author’s name is clicked. In the individual display, you can also see how often the respective journal and the assigned keywords are recorded in the database. Here, too, a detailed overview is displayed when clicked.
Each search result displays a link that leads to the source of the publication, usually the journal in question or, the university, in the case of MSC, D.O. or PhD theses. If the download of the article is subject to a fee, the link is marked with full text. If, on the other hand, it is possible to download the article free of charge, the link is highlighted in green as free full text.
By clicking on copy to clipboard, the individual study can be saved in the clipboard. There you have the option of deleting the study again (far right), printing it out using the export function or saving it as a RIS file for a literature management programme.

Under the heading Help you will find the status file. It shows which publication years have been recorded in OSTLIB so far.

INIOST study report

The Institute for Osteopathic Studies (INIOST) has compiled a review for 2020, 2021 and 2022 (to follow), which describes the totality of osteopathic studies in one year according to predefined criteria, e.g. study type, number of studies, field of study (therapy, diagnosis, etc.), subject area, countries and journals. The reviews are written in German and can be downloaded free of charge.

QR Code

Each page of the database has a QR code at the bottom. If this code is photographed with a suitable mobile phone programme, the selected page can be displayed on the smartphone. This is particularly practical for transferring search results.

Hilfe

Die Datenbank wird in englischer Sprache geführt. Bei ergänzenden Hinweisen sind Übersetzungen in die deutsche Sprache sowie mitunter auch ins Spanische vorhanden. Die Suchroutine erfolgt ausschließlich in englischer Sprache, auch wenn die gesuchten Studien in einer anderen Sprache verfasst wurden. Die Datenbank enthält wissenschaftliche Studien sowie unwissenschaftliche Fachartikel. Editorials, die allein auf den Heftinhalt verweisen sowie Buchbesprechungen und Veranstaltungshinweise sind in der Datenbank nicht enthalten, ebenso keine Beiträge aus Trivialzeitschriften und Blogs.
Die Datenbank verfügt über 3 Zugangswege zur Recherche.

Search

Bei der einfachen Suche kann im ersten Feld der Suchbereich gewählt werden (z.B. Autor, Keyword, Abstract). Mit der Eingabe eines Wortes unter „search term“ wird nach diesem in dem gewählten Bereich gesucht. Bei der Eingabe von Suchbegriffen spielt die Groß- und Kleinschreibung keine Rolle. Die Suche mit einem Suchbegriff erfolgt in Rechtstrunkierung, d.h., es wird auch nach Ergebnissen gesucht, die den Suchbegriff nur als Wortstamm enthalten. So zeigt die Suche mit dem Begriff "osteopath" auch Ergebnisse mit den Wörtern "osteopaths" und "osteopathic" an. Soll nur nach dem Wort "osteopath" gesucht werden, muss nach Wort ein Leerzeichen gesetzt werden. Es können mehrere Suchbegriffe mit Leerzeichen, aber ohne Trennzeichen in einer Zeile eingegeben werden. Die Verknüpfung erfolgt automatisch mit „and“ und es werden nur Studien als Ergebnis angezeigt, die diese Suchbegriffe in der eingegebenen Reihenfolge enthalten. Beispiel: Bei dem Begriff „low back pain“ werden die 3 Worte von der Datenbank zu einem Begriff verbunden und es werden nur die Studien angezeigt, die den gewählten Bereich „low back pain“ enthalten. Studien mit „back pain“ oder nur „pain“ würden nicht angezeigt werden. Sollen die Worte „low back pain“ sowohl als ein zusammenhängender Suchbegriff als auch als 3 Einzelbegriffe verwendet werden, die zusammen, aber an unterschiedlicher Stelle vorkommen können, so ist die Suche über das Pluszeichen am Ende der Zeile um zwei Zeilen zu erweitern (mit dem Booleschen Operator „and“). Sollen die Ergebnisse entweder „low“ oder „back“ oder „pain“ enthalten, so sind die Suchzeilen mit dem Booleschen Operator „or“ zu verknüpfen.

Advanced search

Die fortgeschrittene Suche ist wie die einfache Suche aufgebaut, verfügt aber über eine Reihe wirkungsvoller Filter, die eine sehr differenzierte Suche nach verschiedenen Optionen ermöglichen. Im Normalzustand sind alle Filter ausgeschaltet und zeigen so die maximal möglich Anzahl der Ergebnisse. In der ersten Reihe lässt sich die Suche nach publizierten sowie unpublizierten Beiträgen unterscheiden. Die jeweilige Prozentzahl zeigt, wie hoch der Anteil des jeweiligen Bereichs in der Datenbank ist. Standardmäßig sind beide Bereiche eingeschaltet. Weiterhin kann die Suche nur auf Studien (only studies) oder auf jene Beiträge eingegrenzt werden, die im Internet kostenfrei erhältlich sind (free full text). Die angegebene Prozentzahl zeigt den Anteil der frei zugänglichen Beiträge in der Datenbank an. Der Begriff List of keywords etwas weiter rechts enthält eine Liste der aktuell vorhandenen Suchbegriffe, die in der Rubrik Keywords vorhanden sind. Fett geschriebene Schlüsselwörter haben in der Regel eine höhere Bedeutung und führen zu mehr Ergebnissen. Bei Eingabe des Suchbegriffes im Feld „search term“ öffnet sich unterhalb des Feldes eine Liste, die jene Begriffe enthält, deren Buchstaben bisher eingegeben wurden. So werden bei der Eingabe der Buchstaben l, o und w alle Schlüsselwörter angezeigt, die diese Buchstaben enthalten. Bei Anklicken eines Keywords wird dieses automatisch in das Suchfeld übernommen.
Quick search: Quick search ist der einzige Filter der Datenbank, der alle Ergebnisse des angezeigten Bereiches anzeigt, ohne dass dazu ein spezifischer Suchbegriff notwendig ist. Wird z.B. unter Quick search die Rubrik Covid-19 gewählt und danach die Suche mit der Taste search bestätigt, werden alle Einträge dieses Bereiches angezeigt. Quick search erlaubt die schnelle und unkomplizierte Suche innerhalb einer Rubrik, die Kombination mit weiteren Filtern und weiteren Suchbegriffen ist jedoch nicht möglich.
Search meta topic: Der Filter Meta topic ermöglicht die Vorsortierung nach bestimmten Körpersystemen und Arbeitsbereichen. So werden bei der Einstellung „Pediatric“ und dem Suchbegriff „pain“ nur jene Ergebnisse angezeigt, die auf Schmerzen bei Erkrankungen von Kindern verweisen. Der Filter Meta topic ist sehr gut kombinierbar mit anderen Filtern.
Search section: Auch der Sektionsfilter grenzt die vorhandenen Beiträge auf den gewählten Bereich ein. Die Sektionsfilter sind allgemein gehalten. So zeigt der Filter „therapy“ und der Suchbegriff „pain“ alle Studien und Artikel an, die sich aus therapeutischer Sicht mit Schmerzen beschäftigen.
Filter study type: Dieser Filter erlaubt die Differenzierung nach den wichtigsten Studientypen. Im Normalzustand werden alle Studien und Artikel angezeigt.
Filter type of work: Dieser Filter ermöglicht die Differenzierung hinsichtlich der D.O. Arbeiten der Akademie für Osteopathie sowie von MSc- und PhD Arbeiten. Weiterhin ist die Auswahl nach Konferenzabstracts, Posterpräsentationen sowie Studien möglich, die Abstracts für Studienprojekte entwickelt haben. Im Normalzustand ist kein Filter gesetzt.

Die Anordnung der Suche hinsichtlich der Kategorie (z.B. Abstract, Keywords) sowie der Eingabe des Suchbegriffes und der Erweiterung des Suchfeldes erfolgt wie in der einfachen Suche.

Search single citation

Diese Suchoption ist für die schnelle Suche nach einem bestimmten Autor bzw. einer bestimmten Studie besonders geeignet. Bei der Eingabe des Autorennamens werden alle Studien, die diesem Namen zugeordnet sind, angezeigt. Der Filter journal zeigt über eine Liste die Zeitschriften an, in denen osteopathische Beiträge veröffentlicht wurden. Die Felder title words und publication date erlauben eine weitere Differenzierung. Es ist auch möglich, ohne den Autorennamen nach einer Studie zu suchen, in dem z.B. die Fachzeitschrift und das Publikationsdatum bzw. ein Zeitfenster eingegeben wird. Unter den angezeigten Ergebnissen kann dann der gesuchte Beitrag ausgewählt werden.

Search history

In der Search history werden die aktuellen Suchanfragen für eine bestimmte Zeit gespeichert - für 2 Stunden, wenn Sie unangemeldet sind und 12 Stunden, wenn Sie sich eingeloggt haben. Als eingeloggter Benutzer haben Sie die Möglichkeit, ihre Suchstrategien auszudrucken oder dauerhaft mit Angaben der Suchergebnisse und des Datums zu speichern. Klicken Sie dazu die rechten Icons am Ende der Zeile an.

Saved searches

Wenn Sie Ihre Suchstrategie in der search history speichern, wird sie Suche fortan in der Rubrik saved searches angezeigt. Sie können die Suche von dort jederzeit wieder starten umbenennen, löschen oder ausdrucken.

Anzeige Suchergebnisse

Nach dem Setzen der Filter, der Eingabe des Suchbegriffs und der Betätigung mit Search werden die Ergebnisse in Listenform angezeigt. Die Liste lässt sich nach Name des Autors, dem Titel und dem Datum in absteigender oder aufsteigender Folge sortieren. Links können Sie einzelne Ergebnisse markieren und über das Exportfeld exportieren. Es stehen Ihnen 5 verschiedene Ausgabeformate zur Verfügung. Das erste dient als PDF der komfortablen Übersicht der Suchergebnisse, die txt. Dateien dienen als zweite und dritte Option der einfachen Übersicht, wobei Sie zwischen dem Ausdruck mit oder ohne Abstract wählen können. Die beiden letzten Optionen dienen als RIS bzw Bibtex-Datei dem Einlesen der Suchergebnisse in ein Literaturverwaltungsprogramm.
Das Anklicken eines Suchergebnisses in der Listenform öffnet die Einzelanzeige. Hier finden Sie übersichtlich alle Daten, die zu einem Artikel oder einer Studie gespeichert sind. Die Klammern am Anfang und Ende eines Titels weisen darauf hin, dass der Beitrag nicht im Englischen verfasst und der Titel übersetzt wurde. Unter der Übersetzung findet sich der Titel in der Originalsprache. Hinter den Namen zeigen Zahlen an, wie viele Beiträge des Autors in der Datenbank erfasst sind. Eine Liste der Beiträge wird angezeigt, wenn der Name des Autors angeklickt wird. Bei der Einzelanzeige lässt sich auch sehen, wie oft das jeweilige Journal und die zugeordneten Keywords in der Datenbank erfasst sind. Auch hier wird beim Anklicken eine genaue Übersicht angezeigt.
Jedes Suchergebnis zeigt einen Link an, der zu der Quelle der Veröffentlichung führt, in der Regel das betreffende Journal oder bei MSC, D.O. oder PhD Arbeiten die Universität. Ist der Download des Beitrags kostenpflichtig, so ist der Link mit full text gekennzeichnet. Besteht hingegen die Möglichkeit zum kostenfreien Download, so finde sich ein grün unterlegter Link free full text.
Durch Anklicken von copy to clipboard kann die Einzelstudie im Clipboard abgelegt werden. Dort besteht die Möglichkeit, die Studie wieder zu löschen (ganz rechts), über die Exportfunktion auszudrucken oder als RIS Datei für ein Literaturverwaltungsprogramm zu speichern.

Unter der Rubrik Help findet sich die Statusdatei. In ihr wird angezeigt, welche Publikationsjahre bisher in OSTLIB erfasst sind.

INIOST study report

Vom Institut für osteopathische Studien (INIOST) wurde jeweils für 2020, 2021 und 2022 (folgt) eine Übersicht erstellt, die die Gesamtheit der osteopathischen Studien eines Jahres nach vorgegebenen Kriterien beschreibt, z.B. Studientyp, Anzahl der Studien, Studienrichtung (Therapie, Diagnose etc.), Fachbereich, Länder und Journals. Die Reviews sind in deutscher Sprache verfasst und können HIER kostenlos heruntergeladen werden.

QR Code

Auf jeder Seite der Datenbank findet sich am unteren Ende ein QR-Code. Wird dieser Code mit einem geeigneten Handyprogramm abfotografiert, kann die ausgewählte Seite auf dem Smartphone dargestellt werden. Dies ist besonders praktisch für die Übertragung von Suchergebnissen

Search

En la búsqueda simple se puede seleccionar el término en el primer área de búsqueda (por ejemplo, autor, palabra clave, resumen). Al ingresar una palabra en “searchterm”, se realizará la búsqueda de acuerdo al área seleccionada. Se pueden ingresar varios términos de búsqueda con espacios pero sin carácteres separadores en una línea. El enlace dará resultados automáticamente con “and” y solo se muestran como resultados los estudios que contienen estos términos de búsqueda en el orden ingresado. Ejemplo: Con el término “low back pain”, las 3 palabras se combinarán en un solo término y solo se mostrarán los estudios que contienen el área seleccionada “low back pain”. Los estudios con “back pain” o solo “pain” no serán mostrados. Las palabras “low back pain” se usan como una combinación de un solo término pero también como 3 términos individuales que pueden aparecer juntos pero en diferentes lugares, la búsqueda debe extenderse usando el signo más al final de la línea que desplegará dos líneas más de búsqueda (con el Booleschen Operator “and”). En el caso de que los resultados deban contener “low”, “back” o “pain” hay que vincular las líneas de búsqueda con el Booleschen Operator “or”.

Advanced search

La búsqueda avanzada está estructurada como la búsqueda simple, pero tiene una serie de filtros eficaces que permiten una búsqueda muy sofisticada dada la variedad de opciones. En el estado normal, todos los filtros están desactivados y por ello se muestra el máximo número posible de resultados. En la primera fila se puede distinguir la búsqueda entre artículos publicados e inéditos. El porcentaje dado muestra qué tan alta es la proporción del área respectiva en la base de datos. Por defecto, ambas áreas están activadas. Además la búsqueda se puede limitar solo a estudios (onlystudies) o a artículos que están disponibles gratuitamente en internet (freefulltext). El porcentaje dado muestra la parte de libre acceso de los artículos en la base de datos. El término “List ofkeywords” un poco más a la derecha contiene una lista de los términos actuales de búsqueda existentes que están disponibles en la sección Palabras clave. Las palabras clave en negrita suelen tener mayor importancia y conducen a más resultados. Cuando se ingresa el término de búsqueda en el campo “searchterm”, se abre una lista debajo de este campo, que contendrá los términos cuyas letras se ingresaron hasta el momento. Por ejemplo, si se escriben las letras l, o y w, se mostrarán todas las palabras claves que contengan esas letras. Al hacer clic en una palabra clave, esta se agregará automáticamente al campo de búsqueda.
Quick search: La búsqueda rápida es el único filtro en la base de datos que muestra todos los resultados del área mostrada sin necesitdad de un término de búsqueda específico. Por ejemplo, si selecciona la categoría Covid-19 en “Quick search” y luego confirma la búsqueda con el botón de búsqueda, se muestran todas las entradas en esta categoría. La búsqueda rápida le permite buscar rápida y fácilmente dentro de una categoría, pero no se puede combinar con otros filtros y otros términos de búsqueda.
Search metatopic: El filtro Metatopic permite la clasificación previa según sistemas corporales específicos y áreas de trabajo. Así con el ajuste “Paediatric” y el término de búsqueda “pain” solo se muestran los resultados que hacen referencia al dolor en enfermedades de los niños. El filtro Metatopic se puede combinar fácilmente con otros filtros.
Search section: El filtro de sección de búsqueda también limita los artículos disponibles al área seleccionada. Los filtros de sección son generales. Así la combinación del filtro “therapy” y el término de búsqueda “pain” muestran todos los estudios y artículos que tratan el dolor desde un punto de vista terapéutico.
Filter Study type: Este filtro permite diferenciar según los tipos de estudio más importantes. En el estado normal, se muestran todos los estudios y artículos.
Filter type ofwork: Este filtro permite diferenciar en cuanto a los trabajos de los doctores de la Academia de Osteopatía así como tesis de maestría y doctorado. También es posible seleccionar resúmenes de conferencias, presentaciones de carteles y estudios que hayan desarrollado resúmenes para proyectos de estudio. En el estado normal, no se aplica ningún filtro.
Filter type oflanguage: Este filtro le permite seleccionar los idiomas más importantes. En el estado normal, no se aplica ningún filtro.
Filter country: Este filtro se puede utilizar para seleccionar el país del que debe provenir el artículo buscado. El país de origen del primer autor sirve como base. En el estado normal, no se aplica ningún filtro.
Filter publicationdate: Este filtro le permite acotar convenientemente la fecha de publicación, ya sea en el mes, en los últimos 3,6 o 12 meses o en el período que se elija. En el estado normal, no se aplica ningún filtro.

La disposición de la búsqueda con respecto a la categoría (por ejemplo, resumen, palabras clave), así como la entrada del término de búsqueda y la extensión del campo de búsqueda, es la misma que en la búsqueda simple.

Search single citation

Esta opción de búsqueda es particularmente útil para buscar rápidamente un autor o un estudio específico. Al ingresar el nombre del autor, se muestran todos los estudios asignados a este nombre. El filtro journal muestra una lista de revistas en las que se han publicado artículos osteopáticos. Los campos titlewords y publicationdate permiten una mayor diferenciación. También es posible buscar un estudio sin el nombre del autor, por ejemplo, ingresando la revista y la fecha de publicación o un período de tiempo. El artículo buscado se puede seleccionar entre los resultados mostrados.

Search history

En el Search history, las actuales consultas de búsqueda se guardan durante un cierto perído de tiempo: durante 2 horas si usted no ha iniciado sesión y 12 horas si usted ha iniciado sesión. Como usuario registrado, usted tiene la opción de imprimir sus estrategias de búsqueda o guardarlas permanentemente con detalles de los resultados de la búsqueda y la fecha. Para ello, haga clic en los iconos de la derecha al final de la línea.

Saved searches

Si usted guarda su estrategia de búsqueda en el searchhistory, su búsqueda se mostrará en adelante en la sección de savedsearches. Usted puede volver a iniciar la búsqueda desde allí en cualquier momento, cambiar el nombre, eliminar o imprimir.

Sign in

Si usted se registra en OSTLIB de forma gratuita e inicia sesión antes de trabajar con la base de datos, tendrá más ventajas. De esta manera, puede guardar sus estrategias de búsqueda de forma permanente, pero también puede almacenar estudios particularmente importantes en el Clipboard y así crear una colección de estudios individuales. Además, de esta manera se activa la función de exportación, con la que puede leer sus resultados (ver visualización de resultados de búsqueda).

Mostrar los resultados de la búsqueda

Después de configurar el filtro, ingresar el término de búsqueda y hacer clic en Buscar, los resultados se muestran en forma de lista. La lista se puede ordenar por nombre de autor, título y fecha en orden ascendente o descendente. A la izquierda usted puede marcar resultados individuales y exportarlos a través del campo de exportación. Hay 5 formatos de salida diferentes disponibles para usted. El primero sirve como PDF para una cómoda descripción general de los resultados de la búsqueda, el txt. Los archivos sirven como una segunda y tercera opción para una descripción general simple, en la que puede elegir entre imprimir con o sin resumen. Las dos últimas opciones se utilizan como un archivo RIS o Bibtex para importar los resultados de la búsqueda a un programa de gestión de literatura. Al hacer clic en un resultado de búsqueda en el formulario de lista, se abre la pantalla individual. Aquí encontrará una descripción general de todos los datos almacenados para un artículo o un estudio. Los corchetes al principio y al final de un título indican que la publicación no fue escrita en inglés y el título fue traducido. Debajo de la traducción está el título en el idioma original. Cada resultado de búsqueda muestra un enlace que conduce a la fuente de la publicación, generalmente la revista en cuestión o en maestrías, o doctorados de osteopatía o doctorados de la universidad. Si hay un cargo por descargar el artículo, el enlace se marca con fulltext. Si por el contrario está la opción de descarga gratuita, hay un enlace freefulltext con fondo verde.
El estudio individual se puede guardar en el portapapeles haciendo clic en copy to clipboard. Allí usted tiene la opción de eliminar el estudio (extremo derecho), imprimirlo utilizando la función de exportación o guardarlo como un archivo RIS para un programa de gestión de literatura.

El archivo de estado se puede encontrar en el encabezado Help. Allí se muestra qué años de publicación se han registrado en OSTLIB hasta el momento.

INIOST studyreport

El Instituto de Estudios Osteopáticos (INIOST) creó una descripción general para 2020, 2021 y 2022 (y años venideros), que describe todos los estudios osteopáticos de un año según criterios específicos, por ejemplo, tipo de estudio, número de estudios, campo de estudio (terapia, diagnóstico etc.), departamento, países y revistas. Las reseñas están escritas en alemán y se pueden descargar de forma gratuita.
