Abstract:

The editorial team at The International Journal of Osteopathic Medicine (IJOM) have been discussing the focus of the next special issue for the journal. Many ideas have been put forward including topics such as biopsychosocial osteopathic practice, mechanisms underpinning osteopathy and models of osteopathic care. I also had discussions with Professor Stephen Tyreman about guest editing another special issue of IJOM before his untimely death. I decided to focus this call for our next special issue on the identity and future of osteopathy. I have drawn on some of Stephen's unpublished writing which he urged me to do in his last days. I very much hope that the osteopathic community will support the call and submit papers to the forthcoming issue, that we anticipate publishing either towards the end of 2022 or in the first half of 2023. We welcome papers that address one or more of the questions posed in this call/editorial.

Die Redaktion des International Journal of Osteopathic Medicine (IJOM) hat über den Schwerpunkt der nächsten Sonderausgabe der Zeitschrift diskutiert. Es wurden viele Ideen vorgebracht, darunter Themen wie biopsychosoziale osteopathische Praxis, Mechanismen, die der Osteopathie zugrunde liegen, und Modelle der osteopathischen Versorgung. Ich habe auch mit Professor Stephen Tyreman über die Gastredaktion einer weiteren Sonderausgabe des IJOM gesprochen, bevor er viel zu früh verstorben ist. Ich habe beschlossen, den Schwerpunkt dieser Ausschreibung für unsere nächste Sonderausgabe auf die Identität und Zukunft der Osteopathie zu legen. Ich habe mich dabei auf einige unveröffentlichte Schriften von Stephen gestützt, zu denen er mich in seinen letzten Tagen gedrängt hatte.
