Abstract:

Due to the increasing prevalence of back pain in America, multiple treatment styles have been developed to address the variety of structures that can be contributing to the patient's ailment. The high ilium sacroiliac (HISI) tender point can be easily addressed and often relieves low back pain due to its relation to the pelvis and sacroiliac joint. The traditional treatment position is not always well tolerated amongst patients with lumbar, hip, or knee pathology. Using this modified treatment approach, we can address this tender point while respecting these limitations and providing safe and sustainable body mechanics for the operating physician. This article also discusses the additional indications, contra-indications, and problem-solving techniques regarding this treatment.
