Abstract:

Biomechanics is at the core of all manual medicine training, including osteopathy. But mechanics is only the last link in a chain, which starts with processing information, i.e. about the space in which we move. This information processing, i.e. by the visual system, is not really considered in any manual medicine concept. This is also true for the oculomotor system, which has substantial influence on how the rest of the body moves. In the age of information and in the view of substantial knowledge about our information processing system, the nervous system, a development of manual medicine reasoning from biomechanics to bioinformatics is possible and contemporary.
