Abstract:

Scoliosis can be a very disabling pathology and is defined as a three-dimensional deformation of the spine, which is said to be multi-factorial including genetic predisposition, imbalance between anterior and posterior spinal growth and abnormalities in connective tissue (skeletal muscle and nerves). This article approaches Scoliosis with the following models: mechanical, neurological, respiratory circulatory, bioenergetic/metabolic, and biopsychosocial model. In the next issue, osteopathic therapy for scoliosis is presented.
