Abstract:

The current prospective longitudinal study, which covered a period of two years, was carried out on 50 children, aged 0-16 years. The intention was to clarify whether the multimodal (manual therapeutic/osteopathic) therapy concept developed at the Clinic for Manual Therapy had an influence on the well-being of children with the diagnosis, 'infantile cerebral palsy.. After a three-month period of observation, we were able to categorise a series of relevant clinical signs into parameters, which essentially reflected the condition of each child. Changes in these parameters make an objective analysis of the results possible. Using the Wilcoxon test and descriptive statistics, the parameters: 'joint mobility, trunk and head control, spasticity, fine and gross motor control' showed significantly improved values after a single treatment, as well as over a longer time span.
