Abstract:

My practicum took place at Rocky Vista University College of Osteopathic Medicine (RVUCOM) which is located in the Town of Parker, Douglas County, Colorado. The 20 acre campus boasts state-of-the-art technology, A.V. capabilities and educational support for students wishing to pursue a professional osteopathic medical education. During my practical experience at Rocky Vista, I was excited to finally be able to put some of the theories of human resource management that I had learned at SUNY Empire State College into practice. I enjoyed exploring the inner workings of a Human Resources department from a University perspective. An analysis the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) and its impact on human resources professionals were examined. I also performed a general analysis of the overall policies and procedures that come into play while operating a newly established for-profit medical school.
