Abstract:

The article deals with the concept of MET. It describes the osteokinematic diagnosis with its relation to the spinal kinematic of Fryette and the pelvi-sacral axis-model of Fred Mitchell Sr. as a substantial part of MET. The different variants of MET are presented. In doing so, it is clarified that MET is not limited to an isometric technique but is a profound system for the treatment of articular movement restrictions. The article describes the differences between MET and the postisometric relaxation (PIR) which is nowadays very popular in Germany and it discusses G. Fryers, P. Gibbons and P. Tehans critical remarks about MET.
