Abstract:

The concept of the mechanical LINK developed by Paul Chauffour D.O. MROF in 1978 is a precise and reproducible osteopathic approach to diagnosis and treatment. It consists of one single (pressure or traction) test to evaluate the restriction of elasticity and therefore the somatic dysfunctions. The dysfunctions are classified with the so called inhibiting balance test to find the primary dysfunction, which marks the starting point of the treatment. The treatment itself is performed by a very safe technique, the recoil, that follows a very precise protocol. The LINK method, which fully integrates A. T. Still's concept, was first published in 1984 by Paul Chauffour and Dr. J. M. Guillot followed by a second publication in 2002 based on the improvements of the LINK concept made by Paul Chauffour and Eric Prat since 1985. The LINK has proved to be a very helpful tool for all osteopaths who want to apply osteopathy according to A. T. Stills principle “find it, fix it and leave it alone“.
